Looking Ahead to New Math Words:
congruent: Same size and shape
ones digit: number on the right in a multi-digit number that tells how many extra are left after groups of ten have been made
tens digit: number on the left of a two-digit number that tells how many groups of ten are in a number
Math to try at home:
- Ask your child to make a design by drawing only straight lines using a ruler. Allow your child to color their design.
-Collect at least 6 dimes and 9 pennies. Make a set of index cards with money amounts from .20-.25 and .30-.34. Mix up the cards and place them facedown on the table. Take turns taking two cards at a time and show the sum of the two amounts using dimes and pennies.
Math is FUN!
